Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains what HoopChat collects, why, and the choices you have. We tried to keep it short and human.

HoopChat is operated by BENXLABS, Žiga Benko s.p. ("we", "us"), based in Ljubljana, Slovenia, who is the data controller for your information. If anything here is unclear, email us at ziga@benxlabs.com.

What we collect

• Account details: when you sign in with Apple, we receive your name and email to create and secure your account. If you choose to hide your email, Apple gives us a private relay address instead. Before you sign in, we create a temporary anonymous account so setup works; it is merged into your real account when you sign in.
• Profile information: the display name and, if you add one, the profile photo you set during setup or in Settings are stored in your account.
• Your chats and content: the messages you send to the AI coach and the content you create in the app are stored in your account so your conversations and progress persist across sessions.
• Voice and audio: if you use the voice features, your device microphone records your speech and we process that audio to convert it to text (speech-to-text) so the AI coach can respond, and we generate spoken audio replies (text-to-speech). We do not use your recordings to identify you, and audio is not retained beyond what is needed to provide these features.
• Purchases: if you subscribe, Apple handles the payment and our subscriptions provider tells us whether your subscription is active and how many AI credits you have used. We never receive your full card details.
• Basic technical data: like most apps, we log limited technical information (such as device type and error logs) to keep things running and diagnose problems.

How we use it

To run and provide the app, including generating AI coaching responses and voice replies to your messages; to personalize your experience; to manage your subscription and AI credit allowance; to respond to support requests; and to keep the service safe and prevent abuse.

AI and voice features

HoopChat uses third-party artificial intelligence services to power the coach. When you send a message, its contents are transmitted to our AI provider to generate a response. When you use voice, your audio is sent to our voice provider to transcribe your speech and to synthesize spoken replies.

These providers process your input to return a result to us; they act as our processors under our agreements with them and do not use your content to build their own products. AI-generated responses can be inaccurate or incomplete — please do not rely on them as professional advice (see the Terms of Use).

Who we share it with

We do not sell your personal information or share it for advertising. We share it only with the service providers that make the app work, and each receives only what it needs:

• Supabase — hosts our accounts, database, and storage of your profile, chats, and content.
• OpenRouter, and the AI model providers it routes your request to (including Anthropic) — process the messages you send to generate the coach's responses.
• ElevenLabs — converts your recorded speech to text and generates the spoken audio replies.
• RevenueCat — tracks your subscription status and credit usage.
• Apple — handles Sign in with Apple and processes your subscription payments.

We may also disclose information if required by law, or to protect the rights, safety, and security of our users and the service.

Where your data is stored

We are based in the European Union. Some of the service providers above (including our AI and voice providers) operate servers in the United States and other countries, so your information may be transferred and processed outside the EEA. Where that happens, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as the providers' standard contractual clauses. By using the app, you understand your information may be transferred internationally.

How long we keep it

We keep your account, chats, and content until you delete them. You can delete your account any time in Settings — this permanently removes your profile, chats, and content from our systems. Deleting the app alone does not delete your account.

Your choices and rights

You can edit your profile and delete your account in Settings, and you can manage app permissions such as the microphone in your device settings at any time.

Because we are based in the EU, the GDPR applies: you have the right to access, correct, delete, or export your data, to object to or restrict certain processing, and to withdraw consent. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority (in Slovenia, the Information Commissioner / Informacijski pooblaščenec). Children

HoopChat is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data. If you believe a child has used the app, contact us and we will remove it.

Security

We use industry-standard measures such as encryption in transit and access controls to protect your data. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to keep your information safe.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy. If we make significant changes, we will update the date shown above and, where appropriate, notify you in the app.
